New iPhone apps worth downloading: ShowScoop Concerts, Mibblio, Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno

Today’s first app is ShowScoop Concerts, which provides recommendations and reviews of live performances to help you hit up rad shows while avoiding bad ones. We’ve also got Mibblio, a children’s story app that includes sing-alongs and other musical additions, and Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno, a side-scroller that puts you in the role of an evil rabbit riding a motorcycle jetpack through the underworld.

ShowScoop Concerts (Free)

What’s it about? ShowScoop bills itself as “Yelp for concerts,” giving users a chance to rate live music shows they see and share those ratings with others.

What’s cool? Users who fire up ShowScoop can find a lot of information about shows, they can even see what concerts and performers other users have liked (and what they haven’t). Sharing ratings is a big part of the app’s functionality, but you’ll also be able to snap and share photos and keep track of all the concerts you attend. The idea is that you’ll always be able to avoid bad shows by checking out ratings, and you can find great shows to see by following the reviews of your friends.

Who’s it for? If you attend a lot of concerts, you’ll want to check out ShowScoop.

What’s it like? Get more ratings for events and live shows from Yelp and Floop.

Mibblio (iPad) (Free)

What’s it about? There are plenty of storybook apps in the iTunes App Store, giving kids something to read. Mibblio takes the idea a step further and presents them with a sing-along.

What’s cool? The app’s stories are all based on children’s songs and are delivered in small bits called “mibblets,” which allow kids to read and sing along. The app also includes the ability to play along with its built-in keyboard and strumming feature, so kids can take part in the music in a variety of different ways. Mibblio also allows users to mute different portions of the songs so they can see how they’re mixed and add their own input.

Who’s it for? Mibblio is for kids who enjoy storytelling as well as music and singing.

What’s it like? Check out other storybook apps, such as The Tortoise and the Hare and Puss and Boots Movie Storybook.

Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno ($0.99)

What’s it about? Side-scroller Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno has players blasting bosses and flying through the burning corridors of Hell on a jetpack-equipped motorcycle.

What’s cool? Players in Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno have to fight through 50 levels often filled with monsters, coins, spikes and fire. The game includes two controls: one for firing missiles, the other for firing rockets to move up vertically. You’ll need to act fast and use reflexes to pick the correct paths and avoid obstacles, and you’ll need to pay close attention to find the best ways through each level, in order to complete each one’s special objectives.

Who’s it for? Players who enjoy side-scrollers and the console title Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit will likely have a good time with Pocket Inferno.

What’s it like? More side-scrolling jetpack fun can be found in Jetpack Joyride.
