Ridiculous Fishing ($2.99)
What’s it about? Casual arcade title Ridiculous Fishing mixes tilting mechanics with crazed tapping to bring players into the world of a fisherman who brings the fish up with his reel, then shoots them out of the air with his gun.
What’s cool? Ridiculous Fishing sits you in a boat and tasks you with catching fish that you can sell to earn yourself new upgrades to your boat and gear. The goal is to cast your bait into the water and tilt your iOS device to move it back and forth on the screen. On the way down, you’ll attempt to avoid as many fish as possible, until you get as deep as you can and start bringing the line back up. When that happens, your job becomes to snag as many fish as you can with your tilt controls. When you get your fish to the top, you’ll need to shoot them out of the air by tapping on the screen, juggling them and finishing them off to earn money. Though it’s pretty simple in concept, Ridiculous Fishing manages to be lots of fun and a great way to kill a few minutes.
Who’s it for? Fans of tilt-based casual titles should have fun with Ridiculous Fishing.
What’s it like? You’ll find similar offerings in Super Dynamite Fishing and Extreme Fishing 2.
Bobbing ($0.99)
What’s it about? A gravity reversing platformer, Bobbing requires players to avoid traps as they run around a circular course, grabbing points along the way by deftly avoiding obstacles.
What’s cool? Bobbing starts players out on circular levels that rotate beneath them, requiring you to anticipate your moves ahead of time in order to keep yourself alive. When obstacles appear in your path, you’ll need to reverse gravity to dodge them, and getting through some traps requires you to change your character’s color to match them. It’s all twitch reflexes and perfect execution in Bobbing, and if you mess up and get dragged backward on its rotating levels, it’ll reduce your score.
Who’s it for? Players who enjoy platformers and running titles should try Bobbing.
What’s it like? Runners such as Polara and Save Them All share some similar mechanics.
