New iPhone Apps Worth Downloading: Krowds, Zombie Fish Tank, Hyper Breaker Turbo

Find and share tons of videos on a variety of topics with Krowds, which lets you create “krowds” of videos on a certain subject. This enables you to get a variety of viewpoints on subjects or a concert you attended. We also have two great new games: Zombie Fish Tank, a tilt-based game in which you eat little fish to grow while avoiding bigger fish, and Hyper Breaker Turbo, an expansive take on the brick-breaker formula.

Krowds (Free)

What’s it about? Video-sharing app Krowds organizes videos shot by users by where they are and their interests, with the purpose of giving you access to other people’s points of view on the same activity or event.

What’s cool? Krowds basic function is to share videos, and it offers you the ability to upload clips of any length or subject to the app using either a Wi-Fi connection or your cellular data plan. The cool thing about Krowds, though, is its methods of organization. You can create a grouping of videos (or “krowd”) based on anything – the concert you’re attending, riding ATVs, a local baseball team or whatever. You can upload your videos to specific krowds to add to them, giving you and everyone else multiple videos from multiple users on the same topic.

Who’s it for? If you like sharing video and seeing others’ perspectives on the things you like, try Krowds.

What’s it like? You might also try SocialCam and Klip Video Sharing for more social video opportunities.

Zombie Fish Tank ($0.99)

What’s it about? A frantic 2-D action game, Zombie Fish Tank puts players in control of a zombie fish that needs to eat smaller fish to grow and avoid bigger fish to stay alive (or undead).

What’s cool? Zombie Fish Tank’s first big element is that it’s a constant battle for survival. You start each level as a small fish who needs to eat other fish in order to get bigger, because there are lots of larger fish in your tank bent on eating you. You tilt your device to move around the tank, snapping up fish in order to grow bigger. There are also lots of power-ups you can grab that make you faster or more effective, and you can earn points that can be applied to purchasing fish for your own manageable zombie fish tank between levels.

Who’s it for? Users Arcade game fans, Zombie Fish Tank offers some fun, fast tilt-game action.

What’s it like? Tilt to Live is another great game for tilt controls, as is Hyperlight.

Hyper Breaker Turbo ($1.99)

What’s it about? Brick-breaker title Hyber Breaker Turbo sets itself apart with huge levels that cover multiple screens and precise controls.

What’s cool? You’ve played brick-breaker games before, more than likely – they’re the titles in which you move a paddle around, bouncing a ball off it that collides with bricks at the top of the screen to break them. Hyper Breaker Turbo is familiar in that regard, but it includes a ton of levels that are often pretty expansive, building on the genre by trying new things with stages that cover more than one screen. It also includes some very solid paddle controls, the ability to record and share your games, and global achievements you can earn along with the help of other people all over the world.

Who’s it for? Players familiar with brick-breaker games should check out Hyper Break Turbo for a similar, but often better, experience.

What’s it like? Circuloid Brick Breaker and 3-D Brick Breaker Revolution are both fun riffs on the same formula.
