What’s it about? Fitness app FitStar brings users workouts that are adapted to their fitness and strength level, led by NFL star Tony Gonzalez.
What’s cool? Finding a workout regimen that works for you can be tough, especially when you’re trying to get fit but don’t have a lot of experience with things like lifting weights and the other ins and outs of training and workouts. The handy thing about FitStar: Tony Gonzalez is that it’s built to adapt to its users over time, no matter what your workout skill level is. The app is packed with music, workout descriptions and videos for you to follow featuring NFL star Tony Gonzalez, and lets you connect with friends across social networks so you can get fit together. In its latest update, FitStar adds progress tracking that helps the app customize workouts to your ability level, and also is optimized for iOS 7. The developers are also featuring a free 7-minute workout. From their press release: “Everyone can find seven minutes in their day,” said Tony Gonzalez. “FitStar‘s new scientific 7-minute workout is the perfect blend of high intensity moves for people who have limited time but crave a tough and incredibly effective workout.”

XCOM: Enemy Unknown update ($9.99)
What’s it about? Take on an invading alien race by carefully dispatching specialized soldiers in XCOM: Enemy Unknown, a turn-based strategy title.
What’s cool? Aliens have come to Earth and they’re not friendly in XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and as commander of the XCOM project, it’s your job to stop them. Players take control of the underground XCOM facility, where they can train soldiers and research alien technologies to increase their fighting effectiveness. When aliens attack, you’ll send your crack squad of soldiers to deal with the situation, and control them on the ground by issuing orders in turn-based combat. Effectively using support, assault, heavy weapons and sniper classes is key to survival, as is choosing which missions to take – you can’t send soldiers to every attack, but keeping the countries involved in the XCOM project happy and protected is the only way to keep the project alive. XCOM’s new update adds asynchronous multiplayer, meaning you can play against others in turn-based combat even when they’re away from their devices.
Who’s it for? If you like strategy games, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a great one; it was also one of the best games of 2012 on any platform.

What’s it about? Adventure through a Halloween night on a quest for candy and battle evil Grubbins as they try to take over your neighborhood in Costume Quest.
What’s cool? Role-playing game Costume Quest puts players in the shoes (and Halloween costume) of a kid who has stumbled on a plot in your hometown. After your brother (or sister) is kidnapped by evil, troll-like creatures, you set out with some friends to get to the bottom of the mystery and fight off the bad guys (while also collecting candy). You’ll upgrade your team with different costumes and take part in team-based battles of make-believe, in which your costume gives you different abilities – like launching missiles as a robot or slashing with a sword as a knight.
Who’s it for? Fans of role-playing games and light-hearted, humorous games should check out Costume Quest.
