New iPhone apps worth downloading: CrowdFlik, Vine update, Naughty Boy – Sling and Shoot

Today’s two leading Apps Worth Downloading apps are all about creating cool videos. Up first is CrowdFlik, an app that lets you check in to an event with other users and share all the videos you and the rest of those attending shoot with your iOS devices. When all the videos are uploaded, you can create videos by utilizing any of the clips other users shot, to capture multiple angles. Twitter’s Vine is up next, allowing users to create six-second videos to share on the social networking site. Vine has just received a big update that adds lots of new features. Finally, we have Naughty Boy – Sling and Shoot, an arcade shooter in which you need to use a boy’s slingshot to keep his parents from sending him to school.

CrowdFlik (Free)

What’s it about? Become a camera operator, and later, a director, in CrowdFlik, a crowd-sourced video app that synchronizes video you shoot of an event with other users’ video, and lets you access all the clips and edit them together.

What’s cool? One of the more interesting trends in mobile video lately is the use of apps to turn mobile devices into multiple cameras shooting the same event. With CrowdFlik, users check in to an event – say, a wedding or a concert – and as they all shoot video from different angles of the same thing, all their video is uploaded to CrowdFlik’s cloud servers. Then, all the app users at the event can access everyone clips, and edit together the best ones to create “fliks,” or short edited videos, which can be viewed through the CrowdFlik app. You can create all kinds of fliks yourself, and view other users’ fliks when you sign in, or find events to attend near you that you can also shoot to create new fliks with.

Who’s it for? If you’re into shooting video with your iOS devices and enjoy documenting the cool events you attend and the cool things you do, get into the action with other users with CrowdFlik.

What’s it like? Make more videos with the help of friends and other users with Collabracam.

Vine update (Free)

What’s it about? The short video app created just for Twitter continues to become more robust and useful with another huge update.

What’s cool? Micro-blogging social network Twitter is all about short updates and quick bits of information, and Vine, Twitter’s video app, takes the same approach to moving pictures. The app lets users shoot video and stitch them together to create six-second video clips to share on Twitter and other social networks. With the app’s latest update, Vine adds new features like Channels, which are videos organized by topic to which you can submit your own vine videos. You can also “revine” to share your favorites with the users who follow you, and find and follow rising Vine stars.

Who’s it for? If you’re a fan of Twitter and like capturing video, Vine is a great app for you.

What’s it like? Create and share more videos with Socialcam and with the new video features in Instagram.

Naughty Boy – Sling and Shoot ($1.99)

What’s it about? Grab a slingshot and wreak havoc throughout your house in Naughty Boy, an arcade shooter about a bad kid and an angry family.

What’s cool? Naughty Boy is one of those shooters in which players are stationary in the center of a room, facing a number of moving and unmoving targets that they can hit for points. In the case of Naughty Boy, those rooms are the various areas around the boy’s house, and the targets are his angry family members. The game has you using a slingshot armed with candy to create a huge mess and to knock out your family members before they can stop you, and the more accurate you are, the more points you earn – which can help you buy new projectiles and new, better slingshots.

Who’s it for? Fans of arcade shooters should check out Naughty Boy.
