Bazaart (Free)
What’s it about? Access Pinterest and use what you find there to create photo collages with Bazaart.
What’s cool? Simplicity is Bazaart’s major feature, allowing users to use easy touch controls to turn Pinterest photos into collages with almost no sweat. The app lets you combine images together to make whatever you want, and then allows you to save them to your Camera Roll, share them across social networks and email, and also share them with other Bazaart users. You can even remix other users’ collages and leave comments and have discussions over collages, as well. The app was previously only available on iPad, but its new update marks an iPhone release.
Who’s it for? Pinterest users who want to take their use of the social network in another direction should try Bazaart.
What’s it like? The mobile app version of Pinterest is also worth your attention, as is Multiupload for Pinterest.
Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol (Free)
What’s it about? From Firaxis, the developer known for PC titles such as the Civilization franchise and last year’s awesome XCOM: Enemy Unknown, comes a strategy title in which you control British fighter pilots in World War I.
What’s cool? Firaxis is known for its strategy games, especially those with Sid Meier’s name attached to them, and Ace Patrol doesn’t disappoint with its strategy action. You take control of a squadron of British fighter pilots during World War I, running turn-based missions in which you direct your planes around the battlefield, which is made up of hexagons. Each turn provides you with a number of options for your planes – do you dive, climb, bank or pull a roll? Each maneuver offers different benefits for helping you get a bead on your enemies and avoid their fire, and the better you fly in each mission, the more maneuvers you’ll unlock for a given pilot. The game includes a number of planes and pilots to unlock, single and multiplayer missions, and more than 120 mission to fly in total.
Who’s it for? Strategy fans should check this one out, especially if they’re also into planes and dogfights.
What’s it like? There are a few other Sid Meier games that are worth your attention: Sid Meier’s Pirates! and Civilization Revolution.
Impossible Road ($1.99)
What’s it about? Pilot a ball down a winding track in Impossible Road, a game in which falling off the track can be deadly – or rewarding.
What’s cool? Impossible Road is fairly minimalistic, but therein lies its challenge. You control a ball. That ball rolls down a track. That track is winding, narrow, and dangerous, and your only controls allow you to turn left or right to adjust. The goal along the way is to roll through as many checkpoint gates as possible, but there’s a twist – if you fall off the track, you lose, but if you manage to hit a lower part of the track after falling off, you can save yourself and boost your score. The game then becomes about judging the risks and rewards of making jumps versus trying to stick to the track, and gives you a chance to save yourself if you slip. Impossible Road packs a lot of challenge, but that also makes it fun and addicting.
Who’s it for? If simple controls and rollercoaster-like courses sound like fun, Impossible Road is for you.
What’s it like? Slingshot Racing and Death Rally are two games that also require a lot of precision to excel on their race tracks.
