We’re starting today’s apps worth downloading list with Adobe Photoshop Touch, which Adobe has finally made available to users on iPhone as well as the iPad. We’ve also had a number of big games pop up in the iTunes App Store, starting with the Aliens vs. Predator title AVP: Evolution, and Gravity Duck, a puzzle platformer in which players play a duck who has control of gravity.
Adobe Photoshop Touch for phone ($4.99)
What’s it about? Previously only available for iPad, Adobe’s Photoshop Touch brings lots of powerful image editing capabilities to your iPhone, all optimized for touchscreen simplicity.
What’s cool? There’s a lot of power on offer in Photoshop Touch. In addition to providing features that avid users will recognize from Adobe’s PC and Mac versions of the photo-editing software, Photoshop Touch also includes a lot of features easy to implement with your smartphone. Its touchscreen-optimized controls mean you can quickly select portions of images to edit and even grab a chunk of one image to add to another. The integration with your device’s camera gives you the ability to snap photos and instantly add them to the project you’re working on, as well. If you’re familiar with Photoshop, this is an app that can be very powerful and very useful.
Who’s it for? Photoshop fans should definitely check out Photoshop Touch, but it’s also great for anyone who need some image editing power that’s easy to use.
What’s it like? Adobe also offers Photoshop Express for iOS devices, and you can get a lot of the same powerful features out of Photoforge2.
AVP: Evolution ($4.99)
What’s it about? Two of most vicious species in the galaxy are at war (again) in AVP: Evolution, allowing players to take on the role of the Predators or the xenomorphs of Alien fame.
What’s cool? The war of aliens against predators has been on-going across a bunch of video games, and the coolest thing about the series is that it allows players to take on roles on both sides of the conflict. AVP: Evolution includes two parallel campaigns, one about playing as the predators and the other as the aliens, and includes a lot of the same visuals, sounds and other assets from the two film series. Each creature has its own powers and capabilities, too, so the experiences are different in a number of ways.
Who’s it for? If you’re a fan of Alien, Predator, and third-person action games, you’ll want to check out AVP: Evolution.

Gravity.Duck ($0.99)
What’s it about? The latest from the makers of League of Evil puts players in control of a duck that can control gravity, working through a number of puzzle-platforming levels.
What’s cool? Just as the game’s name suggests, Gravity Duck is about a gravity-controlling duck. Players move back and forth with one set of simple controls in the game’s side-scrolling levels, and are able to flip gravity up and down with another. Using gravity to bounce back and forth on different surfaces is key to making it through each of Gravity Duck’s 100 levels, and you’ll have to move carefully to avoid hazards like spikes and enemies if you want to make it all the way through to the end of each one. Things get more and more complex as new obstacles and elements are introduced, so you’ll need to use your head and try to see each level from multiple angles.
Who’s it for? If you like platformers and puzzle titles, you’ll enjoy Gravity Duck.
