Just sign in through Facebook or Twitter (please note that you are allowing access to all of your data by doing so), and the app is instantly personalized to your location and interests.
You can indicate whether you’re looking for a hotel, a restaurant, nightlife venue, etc. This could be especially handy if you’re traveling, and need some recommendations (Think post-wedding-reception party at hole-in-the-wall bar).
I was pleased to find the app was surprisingly accurate. Up popped several of my local favorites, including a sushi joint I thought was my neighborhood’s best kept secret. And yet there were several new watering holes that sounded appealing that I had never visited.
The app includes recommendations, a la Yelp style, so you can read up on a particular coffee bar or pool hall before you even step out your door.
The app does not, however, have the Foursquare ability of informing you which of your acquaintances is also on site.
