I have not come across an app like this in some time. I see many apps, with varying designs and layouts, and not one of them has come close to the beauty that is sewn into the experience that is Memory of Colors Presented by Fotopedia — an app by Fotonauts. You can purchase this app for $0.99, and use it on your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad running iOS 3.1.3 or later. If you love looking at pictures, you’ll love this app.
I would say this app falls into the category of “awareness.” It doesn’t really have a function other than memorializing beautiful cultures around the world that are under threat of globalization. The app is absolutely stunning. The design work is completely top grade, and it was a joy to use. Everything flows seamlessly together, and you become lost in the slide show of pictures by celebrated photojournalist Jaime Ocampo Rangel. Just download, sit back in a peaceful spot, and reflect on the beauty that resides on our planet.
It really is an interesting thing. We all go through our lives, doing whatever it is we do, and we can completely miss all of the “other stuff” out there. We become so focused on the things we’re doing that we miss everything else. This is an app to make you take a break. Perhaps you can start recycling, or taking more pictures like you always intend to do. This is our world, all of us, and it’s important that we respect it.
I don’t know that explaining it would help convey the essence of this app. I will say one thing, download it. It will be worth your time.
