At first glance, this memory matching puzzle app seemed like just another of the many available for young children. But after I downloaded the game, my 5-year-old daughter asked to play Memory Match over and over.
With Memory Match, you are presented with a 5-by-6 grid of blue squares which you proceed to match by touching any two of the squares. The app keeps track of the time it takes you to complete the puzzle and scores the player accordingly. The app doesn’t tell you how it arrives at this score, which probably won’t matter to your kid.
When flipped, each square reveals a cute, cartoon-style animal icon such as a monkey, duck or hippo. Sounds and card-flip animations complement the animal icons.
The simplicity of play in Memory Match combined with the cute sounds and animations won my little girl over. Still, there are not a lot of game options and I would have liked to change the size of the grid and add different sets of animals.
Older kids might quickly tire of this game’s simplicity but for younger kids, Memory Match is engaging.
