Make Brown work for you with UPS Mobile iPhone app

I shop online more than I should, and I’m a compulsive package tracker when I know purchases are arriving soon. Now, thanks to UPS Mobile, I can track to my heart’s content, even when I’m away from my computer.

You don’t have to have a My UPS ID to use UPS Mobile, but without logging in, the app doesn’t save your tracking numbers. Who wants to re-key that string of nonsense every time? In fact, UPS Mobile is designed to function as a supplement to UPS.com. If you are logged in to the site on your normal computer and track a package, you can opt to save it to a list. Log in to your account in the app and you’ll see all your saved searches.

Although UPS Mobile works well with the Web site, it’s not glitch-free. I hadn’t logged in to my account at UPS.com in awhile, so the app prompted me to log on to the site using a “larger” computer to accept the company’s new terms of service and relaunch the app. I did this, using my MacBook Pro, but even after reinstalling the app completely, I still received the prompt. Apparently, there’s a communication problem between the app and the Web site when users accept new terms on a Mac. Logging into the Web site on a PC and then relaunching UPS Mobile app on my iPhone did the trick.

UPS Mobile offers convenient solutions for shippers, including rate quotes, a UPS service finder, and the ability to create shipping labels to print. The app would do well to include more information on its tracking displays, but overall, UPS Mobile is off to a good start when it comes to package management.
