The free Label Networks iPhone app provides the latest news relating to youth culture around the world. It’s a great concept, but the iPhone app itself is lackluster, with only 12 actual articles available at the time of this review.
Label Networks is an intelligence media company offering insight on the global youth culture via a subscription to their studies. With their free iPhone app, you can only access some of the global youth culture news, and you must pay for a subscription to access it all. Overall, the iPhone app is fairly useless without paying for a subscription; since with a subscription, you have access to studies and an article archive. And for the life of me, I couldn’t even figure out if you could actually access the premium content on the iPhone app even if I did have a subscription. There is no login screen to be found.
After reading the press release about the Label Networks iPhone app provided in the iPhone app news section, it seems the app has been launched with the creation of the company’s new iPhone app-developing venture. So right now, this iPhone app is pretty much a promotion vehicle for the company and less about providing insightful information about the culture of today’s youth. There is potential for cool here, so hopefully there is an upgrade coming soon!
I mean only a country bumpkin wouldn’t know that Shaun White won an Olympic gold medal in the snowboarding halfpipe this week and Alexander McQueen committed suicide. OK, if you didn’t know that, maybe you should download this iPhone app!
