iFood Assistant by Kraft was already a popular app in the iTunes App Store, but the recently-released 2.0 version is sure to cement the app’s future on springboards across the country.
The result of customer feedback, the updated version of iFood Assistant now offers offline access to your shopping list and recipe box. You can’t search for new recipes off-network, but you can still browse the “dinner tonight’ tab, which offers one new recipe each day.
Users can now opt-in to receive push notifications of daily recipes, dinner reminders and special offers. iFood Assistant also boasts a holiday and entertaining section chock full of festive recipes. There’s even a planning section to help you figure out how many appetizers or how much drink you should have on hand.
When you find a recipe you like, you can instantly create a shopping list of all the ingredients or add it to your recipe box (an account at kraftfoods.com is required) for later viewing. I don’t love that there is still a half-screen ad when you tap “browse recipes,” especially because iFood is a paid app. Kraft should relegate this to the new iFood Assistant Lite—which offers users a chance to test out the app’s functionality before committing to purchase.
