Klout stays visible with app’s badge

Let’s be honest. The only reason I ever visit Klout is because I like free stuff and sometimes the perks are worth loading the site. Because of my penchant for perks I was excited to see that there was finally an official app for iPhone and iPod Touch, Klout for iPhone.

But, my excitement was short-lived when I discovered how feature-light this app really is. Nope, no access to perks here. What you do get in Klout for iPhone is constant access to your score—yep, you can make it appear as a badge so you’ll always know exactly where you stand. Push notifications can be set to let you know whenever your score changes or if you’re awarded +K. That’s a great feature for the few people who do still care about Klout’s measurement of their influence, but that’s really all the app is good for.

There’s no ability to view Klout’s metrics beyond the number of people you influence and are influenced by. You can see a total of 10 profiles through the app, but there’s little reason to view these in this format. Want to give out +K of your own? Sorry, you’ll have to head to the website. The notifications page largely displays any changes in your score and who has given you +K.

For the Klout-obsessed, Klout for iPhone should prove useful in managing your influence. You wouldn’t want to drop a point after all. But if you’re like me, and here for the freebies, stick to Klout.com.
