Kiplinger puts its top 100 money saving tips at your fingers

Need some help investing that tax return or stretching your income? Then take $1.99 from your budget and use it to buy Kiplinger’s Top 100 Money Saving Tips for iPad. It will help you jump-start your financial planning.

With this app, users get Kiplinger’s top 100 suggestions for making your money go further and making it work harder. The app only supports landscape mode and functions as an e-book/magazine hybrid. There is an interactive element beyond page turning, but it’s relatively minimal. At times, users will have the opportunity to scroll further through information or tap an icon to open a bonus tip or test their knowledge in a quiz.

You can opt to scroll through the pages like a book, or skip around to different categories, including, savings, credit, retirement and spending (clearly my favorite category). The advice is sound but what this app is screaming for is some sort of favoriting system. I’d love to be able to flag or bookmark specific tips that relate to my current situation, whatever that may be. As it stands, you’ll just have to remember the knowledge the first time around, or plan on going back to find it on your own.

Kiplinger’s is well designed. When coupled with the publisher’s more than 50-year history of financial expertise, this means that users will enjoy spending some quality time beefing up on their financial know-how.
