Creating animations on your phone can be an entertaining way to pass the time. Jittergram, for iPhones 3GS, 4 and 4S and third- and fourth-gen iPod Touch, aims to simplify that.
Jittergram offers up functionality for 3D stereograms and stop-motion animation, but I think I’m getting old because my first thought was “Why are there no directions?” Jittergram literally opens to a live camera image with some buttons. I deduced that one button will let you take lots of images and one button will only let you take two images, but c’mon. How hard is it to throw up some overlay text to help a girl out?
I like that Jittergram offers an onionskin-style overlay to help you line up your images, enabling you to create a quick stereogram animation (two images mashed together) or a longer stop-motion animation. I found Jittergram entertaining for a few images, but its not an app I’ll be keeping around. For one, the app only supports the rear camera. For another, there’s no editing options or speed adjustments for your GIFs, and this sucker moves dizzyingly fast. Honestly, the viewing experience isn’t pleasant. You can save a static GIF to your camera roll (no real reason to do so) or share your stereogram on Twitter or via email.
Jittergram may be easy to use, but the app offers little substance. Good thing it’s free.
