Whatever your feelings on Jay Leno the comedian, it’d be hard to argue that he does not take his love of automobiles very seriously. It’s unfortunate then, that a free iPhone app that appears to have a unique take on cars is locked behind a sea of bugs that make it unusable.
Jay Leno’s Garage has four distinct tabs inside of it, one that functions as a “latest news” section, another that seems to be a list of the cars in his garage, another for photos and one more for articles that Leno has written about cars.
Most of this information is nearly impossible to see because it simply does not load. The “Latest” tab displays as a great backdrop with a loading screen in front of it for several minutes without change.
Users can actually see some of the information behind the “Cars” tab and are able to click the links to the different autos, as well as read a descriptive paragraph on each car. However, there seems to be a video portion that, just like the “Latest” section, refuses to completely load.
Nothing besides the names of the vehicles seems to load in the “Photos” section, but the “Articles” section has a bit more luck. Most of the articles can be read, though you’ll have to do so through the big gray “Loading” box that remains in the middle of the screen, perhaps trying unsuccessfully to load a video that corresponds to the article posted.
Overall, this might be the most unusable app I’ve ever encountered. While I’ve used apps that routinely crash to the desktop, at least those work momentarily. Jay Leno’s Garage is nearly completely useless from the moment you load it. Skip at all costs until major improves are made.
