Yesterday, Apple (AAPL) released iWork suite for the iPhone and iPod Touch. As seen on Boy Genius Report, the apps cost $9.99 each and you can pick up the Keynote Remote for $0.99. After downloading the apps, you will instantly notice the power of these applications. BGR stated that the apps are full versions of what we saw on the iPad. Up to this point, we have not seen anything this powerful or functional on a mobile device.
My only question is, what took them so long? It seems to me that this functionality has been out for a long time, it was simply a matter of implementing the application. Despite the small press conference, in Apple style, this launch did not get that much fanfare. Apparently Phil Shiller is trying to free up some space for the presentations at WWDC 2011. Speaking of which, in a discussion with Wired.com, Apple shared that the keynote presentation at this year’s WWDC would be made by Steve Jobs himself despite his current state of medical leave.
