It has been quite some time since the Unreal Engine was announced for iOS devices and we were treated to an amazing graphical experience complete with high resolution textures and beautiful atmospheres. Infinity Blade is one of the first true games to take advantage of this new engine and it really shows.
The graphics in the game are absolutely stunning for a mobile device and really show how far mobile gaming has come. Textures pop and the characters look so much better than the majority of games out there. But that’s about all I have to say positive about it.
The gameplay is surprisingly boring. It plays out similar to a Punch Out style of fighting where you move from one boss to the next. Never once does the game allow you to free roam through the amazing environment as we had first demoed. The game will subject you to fight after fight with very little change in style or gameplay.
Overall, the game might be worth grabbing simply to experience what a true next gen game might look like on your device, but the gameplay itself is rather mundane and doesn’t offer any time of long lasting entertainment. If beating fighter after fighter with the same moves is your game, it doesn’t get much better than this. But I just found it boring.
