Lately there have been an amazing amount of quality games in the App Store. Leading the way are plenty of arcade games, but one element seems to be missing a lot. The iPhone sports an awesome accelerometer, yet a majority of games don’t include a gameplay mechanic utilizing it. It’s something that can definitely be overdone, but Burn the Rope seems to have nailed it.
The idea is pretty simple in this game: you are a flame and it’s your job to burn the rope. You do this by deciding where you want the flame to start and letting it fly. But instead of just watching it, you need to make sure your iPhone or iPod Touch is constantly keeping the flame burning up. Failing to keep it up will diffuse it and lose the level for you.
The game turns into a combination of frantic twisting and careful planning. It was fun for the most part and there were plenty of challenging scenarios to play through. Definitely check this one out, but I wouldn’t expect it to be the best game in your collection.
