This time round, there are very few surprises. After a year of rumors, predictions and leaked photos, the new incarnation of Apple’s top-selling smartphone emerged today and they’re boldly going with the name: iPhone 5.
The new device will ship and and be available in stores on September 21. The 16GB version, like its predecessor, will be available for $199.
The device boasts a 4-inch Retina display with a 16:9 widescreen ratio. It’s slim at 7.6 mm (18 percent thinner than the iPhone 4S, in fact) and light at 112 grams. Its construction features glass and aluminum.
iPhone 5 also sports 4G LTE capabilities this time round and will run on the Verizon, AT&T and Sprint networks in the U.S. Its new A6 processor is said to be two times faster than the A5 chip in the iPhone 4S but the device boasts better battery life than its predecessor.
