iPad apps that are great for kids

Though I successfully smuggled my iPad into the house on launch day and had all the fun to myself, it wasn’t long before I was forced to share with my children and my nieces and nephews, and before I knew it, I’d discovered a whole new world of uses.

Every parent who travels frequently or has relatives visiting from out of town should download the  ($4.99). Hold your iPad up to the sky, and a map of stars and planets will appear on the screen. Move the iPad around the sky, and the view changes. Fun for kids and adults alike, and I can’t wait to sit out in the backyard with my kids this summer to stargaze, and actually know what we’re gazing at.

We’re still figuring out all the ways the iPad is going to change our digital lives. Because it’s so easy to share the device, the right apps are going to help families organize their time and share more time together.
