Hold the presses! News is circulating around the Internet that the new iPad 3 will be available on March 16. Also, there will possibly be yet another launch event in addition to the one everyone is excited about tomorrow, March 7.
According to 9to5Mac, an apparently “reliable Apple Store source” has revealed that preparations are being made for a big Apple Store event which will culminate on Friday, March 16. This could possibly mean that the brand new, shiny iPad 3 (or, perhaps iPad HD) will be in stores just nine days after tomorrow’s big launch event in San Francisco.
March 16 is also significant because it’s the day the Apple Store branch within London’s famed Harrods department store will open, but whether the two are related is yet to be confirmed. At the same time, the popular South by Southwest conference will be underway in Austin, Texas. But according to MacRumors, it’s unlikely that Apple will opening a special “pop-up” retail store at the event like they did last year.
