If you are looking to quickly scan the top headlines of the day, download the iFox News – Fox NewsReader iPhone app. If you are looking for more substantive news stories, spend your 99 cents somewhere else.
The news content found in the iFox app is broken down into categories, including U.S. News, World News, Health, Entertainment etc. Within each category, there is a long scrolling list of headlines to browse.
The headlines were comparable to those found on other news apps, albeit a little more gory. In the health section, for example, there was a story about a 12-year-old girl losing her arm to an aggressive dog. And another about a coma-stricken pregnant woman who lost her baby.
The app is fairly simple to navigate, although it lacks in aesthetics. Its real problem, however, are the blank pages the kept popping up. Indeed, three of the first five headlines that I tapped on produced the following message – “The requested page could not be found.”
Wondering if my network connection was at the root of the problem, I change locations. Despite this, there were still several stories within each category that did not appear on the screen. In addition, the entire Politics category was M.I.A. Nothing, nada, not a single story, blank screen.
In the era of instant communication, there is no room for delays and snafus. We might be spoiled, it’s true, but who has time to browse through an empty app?
