iConcertCal is one of those apps that just makes perfect sense for the iPhone. At $2.99, it’s priced very reasonably and is the kind of thing music lovers will use over and over again.
I am big fan of the alternative weekly format. When I lived in Austin I absolutely loved the Austin Chronicle and now that I am in Chicago I feel the same way about the Chicago Reader.
While I have always been a fan of the writing in those publications, my devotion to them probably has more to do with their concert listings more than anything else. Is there any better way to find out what is going on in your local music scene?
Well, yeah, actually there is – music fans, meet iConcertCal. This app pulls music from your iPhone and shows you when your favorite artists are playing in your area.
The app has a calendar view, links to buy tickets, maps to venues and a link to the iTunes store that allows you to preview artists. The entire time I played with it I could not help but think how ingenious this app is.
It also works quickly. I have about 5GB of music on my iPhone and it was done going through my library in about a minute.
This is not the flashiest of apps and you probably will not be blown away by any of its features. There are also free apps out there that do almost the same thing, just without the customized listings based on your library.
