Game app makers ngmoco and Freeverse have been dropping “freemium” iPhone and iPad apps for the last few weeks. We’ve run down three of the new ones, including the pirate-themed Adventure Bay and a social take on bowling, for today’s Fresh Games list. Check them out below.
Adventure Bay (iPhone) Free
You’ll recognize the premise of Adventure Bay right away when you fire it up — it’s a lot like ngmoco’s other society building games, such as We City and We Farm. Instead of dealing with farm animals and trying to increase the worth of your farm, however, you’ll be trying to lure adventurers and pirates to the scalawag’s island paradise you construct in the app.
Adventure Bay is a social app like a lot of ngmoco’s other games, so you’ll have the best time with it if you encourage others to play and interact with them by sharing gifts and resources. Being a freemium app, as well, you can play it for free, but Adventure Bay allows for in-app purchases for various equipment and items.
We Bowl (iPhone) Free
Create an avatar and take to the lanes in We Bowl, where you can use touch controls to throw the rock and try to grab various game-changing power-ups to take your play to the next level. This arcade sports title features some pretty decent 3D graphics, but it’s optimized for later generation devices — iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 4th generation.
You can challenge your friends to see who can snag the highest score, or play alone and try to earn tickets to unlock new balls, decorate your lanes and deck out your avatar. It’s free to play, and also includes in-app purchases for different items.
Touch Pets Dogs 2 (iPhone) Free
One more freemium game to play with your friends: this one has you caring for virtual dogs in a space you can customize. You can play with your dog with various kinds of toys, like balls and flying discs, as well as check through the items in your house to discover hidden coins in your furniture, which you can use to buy new items.
Like ngmoco’s other freemium apps, there are a lot of in-app purchases to add to the experience here, and you’ll have the most fun if you involve friends. You can earn benefits by visiting friends’ houses in the game, and arranging play dates with friends and their dogs.
