Golf Putt Pro game is a hole in one

If you’re looking for a little putting practice and you can’t get to a green, then pick up Golf Putt Pro. It tests your putting skill in five different playing modes: 3 lives, in a row, Pro, Super Pro and 18 holes.

In the latter you can have up to four players. With realistic sounds, such as birds chirping, you feel like you’re out there in the fresh air. I think the developers did this to relax you so that you wouldn’t be so tee’d off when you miss your putts. What I like about the game is that it gives you several degrees of slope, just like a real green. The animation is smooth, and the ball reacts just like it would in real life. If you lip the ball, it will change direction and roll off the green, but if you make a hole in one, you can hear the sound of the ball hitting the cup. On the downside, I wish they would have longer shots. In Pro and Super Pro, they do vary the location of the cup, but most of the putts are in the three- to five-foot in distance. The graphics on the opening page, are kind of simplistic, but once you get into the game, you’re treated to a different setting for each shot.

The game seems simple when you start. It gives you about a seven-foot putt. As you progress, the shots become more challenging as the slope of the ground changes. This is what makes it a little more fun as you try to gauge where the break is. I think it’s great practice for golfers who need to “read” the putt. Let’s face it, most of us don’t have a pro caddie next to us like Phil Mickelson.
