Available on the iPhone and iPod touch for 99 cents, Squared! is a fun, arcade-style game that will keep you glued to your iPhone for hours. I was surprised how quickly I got into this simple game. For lovers of old-fashioned arcade games with blocky graphics, this one’s for you.
The basic premise of Squared! is to drag the center black square around the screen and collect other black squares while avoiding the red ones. If you see the black circle, pick it up to turn all the squares black and get as many as you can in the time allowed.
While the premise of the game sounds simple (and it is), it’s hard to stop playing. Since games don’t last very long, you can play one quickly, or play several in a row. I found myself turning to this app when I wanted to waste some time, but I didn’t have a lot of it to waste. Players should have a lot of fun chasing the squares around the screen and racking up points.
I found the best part of this game to be the leaderboard, which really amped up the competitiveness in me. While I never got very high in the board, I had a lot of fun trying to get there. For 99 cents, this game is a worth its price completely. It gave my fingers hours of fun!
