I’ve tried several video editors on my iPhone, and new app Game Your Video is one of the best I’ve seen. You’ll need to have an iPhone 4 or 4S, fourth generation iPod Touch or iPad 2 to get in on Game Your Video, but any user who has ever wanted to manipulate video footage with sounds or effect enhancements will not be let down by this app.
Game Your Video is almost too easy to use. You can shoot video live or apply effects to recorded clips, something often missing from the competition. I tested most of Game Your Video’s available effect features during a single video clip, and quickly turned a video of my hyper dog (time for a walk!) into a creepy horror movie. Because I was just testing the effects to see what they did, I wasn’t paying much attention to where I placed them. Even so, I ended up with a pretty entertaining video after only a few seconds of work. In fact, processing the clip took longer than adding the effects. It also made it clear that with the vast array of effects offered, Game Your Video has massive potential for changing iDevice videos across the board.
Because of the “video game-style,” users can see the effects’ appearance in real time as they’re added. This allows you to ensure the filters are properly placed without having to spend additional time processing movies for preview. Once your video is completed, you can upload to Facebook or YouTube, or save to your camera roll. I found it odd that you can’t email a clip directly from the app, but that’s only a tiny gripe.
I love that you get what you pay for with Game Your Video. All features are included with the download price, so there’s no add-on trap to fall into. Game Your Video is currently on sale for 99 cents, but I’d happily pay $2 for this feature-rich experience.
