Fresh iPhone Games for Nov. 8: Hurdle Turtle, Binx, Fairy Cubes

A retro-style turtle and track arcade game is at the top of our list for today’s Fresh iPhone Games. Need more than a hurdle-jumping trackster turtle in full 8-bit glory? Check out our other offerings — all for just a buck.

Hurdle Turtle (iPhone) $0.99

Here’s a simple arcade game with a retro, 8-bit style. You control a trackster turtle and have to dodge hurdles and brick walls while your turtle barrels down the lane.

The trick is to get as much distance out of the turtle as possible. The game also includes OpenFeint connectivity and leaderboards, so you can compete with other players and friends as well.

Binx (iPhone) $0.99

Binx is similar to the very popular Angry Birds. It has players aiming a cannon to fire rocks at a distant structure, attempting to dismantle it as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The game stands out with its strong physics system for destroying the block-style buildings, and includes a ton of levels — at least 150 — spread over six aesthetically different worlds. There’s a lot of bang for your buck in this one, so expect to get addicted.

Fairy Cubes (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

There are a lot of puzzle games out there. Fairy Cubes steps things up by making you work to solve puzzles in three dimensions, by rotating cubes around the puzzle board in order to match up similar symbols. Fans of Bejeweled will recognize some similar gameplay conventions. You’ll get 45 levels of 3D puzzle-solving challenge out of this dollar.
