Hit our Fresh Games list to read about Silverfish, a game one of our reviewers says could be the year’s best for the iPhone. Add to that an augmented reality type game in line with the release of the new TRON movie, and something new from Tap Tap Revenge maker Tapulous, all on today’s list below.
Silverfish (iPhone) $1.99
We’ve heard nothing but great things about Silverfish, a game that combines classic arcade and fighter action. It’s something of a combination of games like Pac-Man, Geometry Wars and Centipede, in which you dodge and blast away at enemies.
Silverfish includes an original, complete soundtrack, Game Center integration, and three different game modes each with their own set of unique rules. If you like action games, we think this is a game you’ll like — it might be 2010’s best iOS game.
Zoo Rescue (iPhone) $0.99
Developer Tapulous is known for its music games like Tap Tap Revenge, but Zoo Rescue isn’t a rhythm game, it’s a tilt-physics offering that’s more like maze navigation.
Your job is to pilot a helicopter between cliffs to save animals stranded at the bottom and airlift them to safety. Tilting the iPhone back and forth helps you dodge the cliff walls to pull the animals out — it’s simple, challenging and addictive, and it’s only a buck.
LiveCycle (iPhone) Free
This promotional game created by Coca-Cola for the upcoming movie TRON: Legacy is worth checking out just because it’s a great idea. Played outside and on foot, in a large open area, the player becomes a TRON light-cycle. You move around the field in reality, while the app tracks you and other players — creating light trailers on the screen while you try to box other players off.
You’ll need a Facebook account to play, which is a bit of a bummer, and maybe a few friends to get LiveCycle to work correctly — but the very idea of playing the TRON light cycle game in a real field with the use of your phone, and for free, seems way too cool to overlook.
