Family Guy fans: hit our Fresh Games list today for a side-scrolling offering that lets you help Brian and Stewie manhandle bad guys — while time traveling! That, and a few other cool apps, including an interesting take on the Angry Birds model and some Death Worm goodness, can be found below.
Family Guy Time Warped (iPhone) $4.99
Take control of Stewie or Brian from the popular Fox cartoon show Family Guy in this app, which might be a little steep at almost five bucks, but will reward fans of the show with its signature style and humor.
Family Guy Time Warped has you battling through various different stages as the iconic characters travel through time, where your job is to battle through enemies and beat a time limit in a classic 2D beat ’em-up. Progressing through the levels yields weapons like a shotgun and laser for Stewie and Brian to employ, and you’ll see cameos from favorite characters in different stages as well. This might be a stretch for your average player, but superfans will get a kick out of this app.
Fun With Death (iPhone) $0.99
Players control Death in this Angry Birds-like app — but unlike that game, in which you use a slingshot and various birds to try to rampage through everything in sight, you’ll need a degree of control as you target some objects, but not others.
In Fun With Death, Death has messed up which souls need to go Heaven, and which to Hell. To correct the mistake, you’ll have to throw imps at various structures to knock them down. Unlike Angry Birds, there are actually two types of creatures within the structures: red souls and blue souls. Red souls are the ones you need to take out — blue souls, you need to protect. This simple addition of strategy takes Fun With Death in a different, enjoyable direction from games of a similar type.
Death Worm update (iPhone, iPad) $0.99
This addictive game has already stormed through the App Store, allowing players to massacre humans as the feared Death Worm, which moves underground to snack on police, military personnel and random civilians.
Death Worm’s first title update puts the iPad version of this app on equal ground with that of iPhone users. It adds multitasking, a feature of iOS 4.2 for iPad, and Game Center integration so you can track achievements and leaderboards with other players.
