Fresh iPhone Games for Nov. 15: Amateur Surgeon 2, GreenHornet, and more

Today’s Fresh Games include a new offering from Adult Swim for iPhone and iPad, and the licensed game to go with Sony’s upcoming film, The Green Hornet. Read up on what makes both pretty cool in today’s list.

Amateur Surgeon 2 (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

The sequel to Adult Swim’s Flash game Amateur Surgeon has hit iPhone and iPad, and it’s pretty hilarious, in addition to being well-suited to touch screen controls like its predecessor.

As amateur surgeon Alan Probe, your job is to help all manner of patients with all manner of gross problems, using the unconventional tools of whatever happens to be lying around. You’ll switch tools using various tabs at the top of the screen to remove shards of glass, cut through ribs, sew up cuts and cauterize wounds. Amateur Surgeon 2 takes a measure of precision, but is simple enough to pick up for a few minutes and then put down.

GreenHornet: Wheels of Justice (iPhone, iPad) Free

This driving game is the licensed app to go with Sony Pictures’ upcoming film The Green Hornet starring Seth Rogen. The game itself puts you behind the wheel of the Black Beauty, runs on tilt controls with 3D graphics, and includes features meant to make you feel like the movie’s hero.

Regardless of your Green Hornet fandom, Wheels of Justice seems like a solid driving sim with lots of cool features, including Facebook connectivity and Game Center and Retina display support. It also includes a 99-cent in-app purchase for 10 additional levels and a turn-based multiplayer mode, although the free version of the game already sports five levels of its own.

ZX Spectrum: Elite Collection HD (iPad) $4.99

Retro gamer iPad owners, you’ll want to take a look at this one. ZX Spectrum contains 12 games from the 8-bit UK computer game system, which was similar to the Commodore 64, for those of you more familiar with state-side hardware.

Developer Elite Systems promises a near-future update that will add an additional four volumes of six games each to the app, which will be available for purchase from an in-app store, and bringing the total of old-school games up to 36. Each of those volumes will be available for $1.99 each.
