Seems like not too long ago, the massive 3D role-playing game Aralon: Sword and Shadow HD was becoming even bigger with a huge update. Now, it has grown even more, with another content update that adds a new player class, more armor and weapons, and a better interface for the iPad. The update tops our Fresh Games list today, but keep reading for a few other offerings we found interesting.
Aralon: Sword and Shadow HD update (iPhone, iPad) $9.99
Crescent Moon’s monster, 30-hour-long 3D role-playing game Aralon features a huge open world to explore and lots of story to discover. You’ll create a character with three different races and five different character classes to choose from, plus the ability to procure mounts to ride into battle and to try out side activities like fishing in addition to all that questing and world-saving.
Aralon just got a huge content update back in January, but Crescent Moon has been keeping busy since then, adding the Paladin class for players to choose from when they create their characters (which brings the class total to five). There are also new sets of weapons and armor to discover, and the game has been better optimized for the iPad.
Hercules – Curse of the Hydra $1.99
Hera, the wife of Zeus, is up to her old tricks in trying to make the life of the demigod hero Hercules difficult. But Hercules is having none of it, and so you get to control him through 16 3D levels of action, battling monsters, animals, and humans on the path to defeat Hera and save the people of Greece. Along the way, Hercules earns various new weapons and abilities to take with him into battle.
You’ll control Hercules with a mixture of virtual buttons and touch controls, and use them to take on mythical creatures through various stages ranging from forests to Athens and Hades. You also get to fight Pegasus, then ride him, then fight with him as your steed — pretty cool. Fans of the God of War series on Sony’s PlayStation will be right at home here.
Mission ImPASTAble (iPhone, iPad) $0.99
Agent Meatball is in trouble. Betrayed by someone in his agency, he is forced to go on the run to escape impending doom at the hands of the Italians. The result: an endless falling game in which you repel down a shaft with columns on either side, dodging food that can trip you up and collecting macaroni noodles, trying to outrun an explosion for some reason.
Mission ImPASTAble comes with four play modes to fill out its casual game repertoire: you get the standard noodle-catching play mode, in which noodles can be converted into power-ups like temporary invincibility; a time trial mode, in which you only have a minute to earn the highest score you can; an expert mode that is harder than the other two, and a hardcore mode in which there are no noodles and one misstep causes you to lose. It also includes two control modes: a tap mode and a tilt mode, both of which send your agent jumping from one side of the shaft to the other to avoid obstacles.
