A new version of Doodle Jump has hit the App Store that ties in with the upcoming Easter-themed animated film HOP. It’s free and features a new unlockable level each day, making it our top pick for the day’s Fresh Games. Rounding out the list are the not quite free (but close) Return of the Bots, a two-stick shooter with high-quality graphics, and War Pinball, which features Chuck Norris. That should be about all you need to know.
Doodle Jump: HOP The Movie (iPhone, iPad) Free
Easter is almost upon us, as is the upcoming Easter Bunny animated movie HOP. In conjunction with the movie comes Doodle Jump: HOP The Movie. The free game is a HOP-themed take on the the standard Doodle Jump formula, in which players bounce from ledge to ledge trying to get as high as they can.
In the HOP version of Doodle Jump, you’ll control E.B., the son of the Easter Bunny, through 25 levels in which you’ll ned to climb as high as possible and gather Easter eggs. Each new level is unlocked every day leading up to the release of the film .
Return of the Bots (iPhone) $0.99
Dual-stick shooter fans will find great graphics and challenging gameplay in Return of the Bots, a shooter that packs in seven unlockable characters that you can purchase with the points you earn in the game. Your goal is to deactivate microchips found throughout each level, but while you’re working on that, you’ll be attacked, bombarded and ambushed by enemy robots.
Return of the Bots spans nine different levels, with two survival mode arena levels to work through as well. Each level ends with a big boss to fight. You’ll also get access to leaderboards and achievements care of Game Center.
War Pinball (iPhone) $0.99
The iPhone makes a pretty cool device for pinball — it’s the same shape and feel of a pinball machine, it’s easy to tilt and its touchscreen is great for running flipper buttons. There are some great pinball tables already in the App Store from developer OOO GameProm, but War Pinball takes the experience a step further by using famous war movies as the themes for its tables.
War Pinball comes with three tables, each based on a popular war film. There’s one featuring director Oliver Stone’s Platoon, one for Navy SEALs, starring Charlie Sheen and Dale Hawkins, and one for the Chuck Norris vehicle Missing in Action. It also features social media integration so you can instantly share your high scores with friends.
