The latest entry in Disney Mobile’s JellyCar series just hit the App Store, and it’s on sale for $0.99 as a welcome to all the new Verizon iPhone customers just picking up their devices. Get all the details below on it, and a couple of other apps: an interesting matching puzzler in Last Temple, and the barnyard roundup game Chicken Coup.
JellyCar 3 (iPhone, iPad) $0.99
Fifty themed levels of doodle-graphicy, side-scrolling squishy car goodness await in JellyCar 3, which tasks you with racing to find a way through each level with the fastest time you can manage. The game is on sale, along with Disney Mobile’s other offerings, to celebrate the Verizon iPhone.
JellyCar 3 allows you to customize your jelly car in a variety of ways, keeps track of times and lets you record your best runs to save your replays. There’s also a new “rewind” feature, which lets players rewind their performance and correct mistakes in levels to get a better score. The app comes with 10 rewinds, and more are available through in-app purchase. Global leaderboards and a ghost racer mode also make it possible to compete against friends’ best times.
Last Temple (iPhone) $0.99
Last Temple is a matching puzzle game that feels a little like similar offerings in the genre, but instead of switching objects so that they make rows and columns, your goal is to basically draw a line through adjacent matching titles to clear them. Each of the 144 stages is a different configuration of hexagonal tiles, and when you use those tiles in a match, they switch from gold to blue. Your goal is to use each tile in at least one match before time runs out, in order to flip the entire puzzle to blue.
The more objects you can draw together to make a match, the higher your score, but you’re also racing the clock. You’ll need strategy to make sure you can create matches from every tile, but if you’re quick with your patterns, you can add time to the clock with big matches. Game Center support lets you see how your scores match up against players all over the globe.
Chicken Coup (iPhone) $0.99
On sale for half price for a limited time, Chicken Coup tasks you with rounding up hens and roosters and guiding them to their respective pens before they can be stolen by pesky foxes. The more chickens you can grab together in a Chicken Chain at once, the higher your score will be.
Game Center support gives you access to achievements and leaderboards that help measure your progress. Chicken Coup is built using the Unreal development kit (the same engine used for Dungeon Defenders and Infinity Blade), giving it some great graphics.
