Fresh iPhone Games for Dec. 3: Fruit Ninja HD update, Clock Blocks, Age of Zombies Lite

Players of Fruit Ninja HD on iPad can take their game head-to-head against other players — just like iPhone users can — with a new update for the app that leads our Fresh Games list today. Keep reading below for details about killing some zombies and attempting to best a new addictive puzzler.

Fruit Ninja HD update (iPad) $4.99

Fruit Ninja is a pretty popular game with a very simple premise — you swipe through flying pieces of fruit as they appear on the screen, slashing them to pieces. The more fruit you can slice, the more points you score, especially when you can cut down multiple melons with one fierce motion.

A new update for the iPad version of this addictive and simple game brings it up-to-speed with its iPhone counterpart, offering Game Center support, as well as online multiplayer. The multiplayer mode lets you challenge random foes from the Internet, as well as your friends, to a head-to-head battle, in which you’re both working to slice the same set of fruit. The fastest finger wins the battle. The only drawback: your challengers must be playing Fruit Ninja HD, so you can’t face off with opponents who are playing on their iPhone while you take part with your iPad.

Clock Blocks (iPhone) $0.99

This is a little tough to explain, but once you understand the premise of Clock Blocks, it’s a hard game to put down. So here goes: there are several blocks arranged on the screen that you have to eliminate, each with a moving clock hand on its face. A ball appears on the screen and hits one of the blocks, activating it, and starting a timer. When the hand on the block makes one full rotation, the game is over, so you have to hit the game’s single button to shoot the ball to another block, elminating the block. Here’s the tricky part: the ball is shot in the direction the clock hand is facing as it spins around the block, so you really only have one chance to time your shot before you lose.

Clock Blocks includes three game modes and 40 different puzzle levels, plus Game Center support for leaderboards to see how you stack up against players all over the world.

Age of Zombies Lite (iPhone, iPad) Free

Developer Halfbrick (who also created Fruit Ninja) has released a free version of its two-stick time-traveling zombie-dinosaur shooter, perfect for experiencing a little of what the full $2.99 version has to offer, but for free.

The lite version includes the first full chapter of the full game, plus a Survival Mode map, and two new weapons that have been added to the full version: the buzz saw, which I’m sure you can imagine tearing through zombies, and the sentry gun. And even though it’s not the whole game, it still packs achievements and leaderboards from Game Center. Plus, if you buy AoZ after playing the lite version, you’ll be able to unlock a new item in the full game: the hoverboard. Hoverboards have never not been awesome, so get on it.
