Sound editing on the go hits the iPhone for free, and the iPad gets some new ways to edit and manipulate photos with today’s Fresh iPhone Apps.
Pocket WavePad (iPhone) Free
A free sound editor that works on your iPhone, Pocket WavePad supports a number of file formats and is geared toward professionals that have to make recordings while out in the field, such as journalists.
The app comes with a few different effects that can be added to recordings, and files can be sent or shared from the app over the Internet. Pocket WavePad seems to be generally designed for voice recordings, and it includes voice-activated recording, so the app won’t waste your battery or your time recording silence.
Classics for iPad iPhone & iPod, $1.99
Like a lot of similarly titled apps, Classics makes books available in the public domain available to download and read on a mobile device. These are books such as Dracula, The Art of War, Pride and Prejudice, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and The War of the Worlds.
The app boasts the top 100 of these public domain books and they all download immediately along with the app.
Sotheby’s Mobile (iPhone, iPad) Free
The app from auctioneer Sotheby’s is a free and cool way to keep up with things you’ll likely never be able to afford to actually own.
Sotheby’s Mobile lets you take a look at various items available for auction with photos that can be zoomed and manipulated, and also includes videos about the items and the topics they represent. And it’s not just for window-shopping – conditions reports and the ability to bid using the app also are available.
Corel Paint It! Show (iPad) $0.99
A notably cool thing about Corel Paint It! isn’t so much that it lets you mess with your photos – lots of apps do that. But Corel also helps you go fetch more photos from Facebook, which is a pain of a process if you’ve ever tried to find a photo that you left online but don’t have on your computer anywhere. Just that one feature is a great idea.
With the rest of the app, you can manipulate your photos with the touch screen to make them look like paintings with various effects. When you’re done, you can ship them back out to Facebook to share with other people.
TouchUp for iPad, $0.99
Maybe you don’t want to change your iPad photos into paintings – maybe you just want to improve them, remove red-eye, brighten up a dark shot or change the color tints. That’s all possible with an easy touch interface on TouchUp.
The app boasts lots of photo editing effects, with more that are available for in-app purchase for more advanced users. And it also has social networking connectivity, making it easy to share your work with others on Facebook and Twitter.
