Not sure which sports games you want to check out this weekend? Grab Thuuz, an app that lets you track upcoming games, find a place to watch them and even gauge the excitement level among fans of each contest. Once you get to the bar, you might try your hand at some time-lapse photography of the excitement using OSnap! Ultimate Time Lapse. During halftime, check out a few fresh games: Dragons Rage is a turret defense-style game in which you play a dragon defending himself from raging knights and archers, and dual-stick shooter Space Trooper USA has you defending yourself from aliens on an asteroid that’s breaking up beneath your feet.

Keep track of your favorite sports all from one place with Thuuz. The app lets you see snapshots of upcoming games from lots of different disciplines, all from its dashboard. Tap on NCAA Football, for example, and you’ll see the next game, who’s playing it, where it’ll be, how you can watch it on TV and over a streaming Internet connection, and even track down a sports bar near you so you can take it in.
Thuuz also determines which games will likely be the most fun to seek out with its “excitement” gauges. It judges the popularity of an upcoming game and lets you know where the excitement level is among fans, so you’ll know which upcoming game will be the best experience in a packed bar or stadium. You can also track your favorite sports and receive push notifications for when games are coming up.
OSnap! Ultimate Time Lapse (iPhone, iPad) $2.99
Create time-lapse photo compilations with your iPhone or iPad 2 with OSnap!, an app useful for both serious and amateur or novice photographers. It works by just snapping a lot of photos, using either the rear-facing or front-facing camera on your device, and can be set to take photos every few seconds or to “listen” for noise to trigger a shot. You might need a dock or some other such peripheral to prop your device up with, but once you do, the iPhone or iPad acts as a mounted camera, snapping away until you tell it to stop.
Once you have all your photos together, you can create a time-lapse video with the shots you’ve gathered, as well as edit them and even delete shots you don’t like or need. OSnap! supports both landscape and portrait photo modes and you can export your time-lapses at speeds of as low as one frame per minute and as fast as 100 per minute. The app also includes Facebook and YouTube integration, so showing off your handiwork to others is easy.
Dragons Rage (iPhone, iPad) $1.99
It’s hard to be a dragon. Medieval warriors are always heading out on adventures, trying to kill you and steal your horde of gold. No wonder you spend most of your time turning them into crispy critters with your fire breath – they started it. But in Dragons Rage, you take on the role of the dragon and it’s your job to finish it in this turret defense title. With enemies closing in all around you, you’ll employ your fire breath to bake destroy them and tilt your device left or right to rotate and take on new threats.
Dragons Rage also includes stages in which you’ll ravage the countryside, steering your dragon as you chase down peasants and setting them aflame by blowing into your device’s microphone. Dragons Rage includes cartoony graphics (so the carnage isn’t nearly as violent as I’m making it sound), as well as Game Center support for achievements and leaderboards.
Space Trooper USA (iPhone, iPad) $3.99
A cool-looking 3-D two-stick shooter, Space Trooper USA puts you, a lone space marine, on a small moon with just a rifle. Before long, asteroids that spew evil spiders are crashing into the planetoid, and you have to run around the ball, blasting away at the enemies. The goal is to rack up as many points as possible and survive as long as you can, but things get more and more difficult as asteroids and exploding enemies take out the very ground beneath your feet.
Space Trooper is a pretty fun arcade shooter with several power-ups and a good deal of strategy. It’s a bit pricy for the amount of content on offer – there’s just the one gameplay mode – so this is one to watch for a price drop. It includes some fast, heavy action, though, with Game Center support so you can see how you stack up on the game’s global leaderboards.
