Real Weather Girls (iPhone, iPad) $2.99
Developer SDE, Inc. touts its Real Weather Girls app to be the first in the iTunes App Store to offer original daily video content.
The app sounds more like a mini-travel show in two-minute bursts, rather than actually providing any information about the weather. It features 12 women (the Weather Girls) who are scattered around the world, giving tips and information about all kinds of topics, including travel tips for wherever they happen to be.
SDE said in its press release that the women appearing in the videos will react and respond to users’ comments, allowing people who buy this app to actively participate on top of receiving new content every day, so that does sound rather cool.
yxplayer3 (iPhone) $9.99
Speaking of video, a nifty feature about yxplayer3 is that it’s a mobile video player that supports a bunch of different formats.
The app is a little pricy, but in addition to playing a lot of standard formats – such as wav, mpeg, mp4, and avi file extensions – yxplayer will play audio as well, and can even handle streaming video and audio files. It also includes a built-in browser to hook up to streaming feeds, thus allowing video playback from just about anywhere.
StickyDoo Standard Edition (iPhone) $2.99
StickyDoo is a productivity app that allows you to create reminders and to-do list items. Business contacts can be added to items, so that expands their usefulness. That way, it’s easy to stay in touch and quickly find the people involved in a certain task.
The app is on sale right now for an introductory period. In addition to its standard functions of organizing lists of tasks with notes attached, and providing reminders with alarms, it also features a sample of some extended features you can try out for 30 days without purchasing.
Teach Me Sushi Expert (iPhone) $4.99
I love apps that make me a better cook, and Teach Me Sushi Expert has the best idea of all time. Of course I would like to learn how to make sushi… Instruct me, iPhone!
The app is built on tutorial videos presented in five-minute segments with instructions on how to make eight different kinds of sushi rolls. It also includes an interactive shopping list and calculator so you know exactly what you need to make the amount of sushi you want. This app will time how long your rice needs to cook. It’ll even use your iPhone’s GPS to direct you to the nearest Japanese market so you can buy what you need.
