Bizzy for iPhone (iPhone) Free
Bizzy is all about recommendations — where to eat, where to go, what events to check out. You enter information about the places you like to go and answer questions, and Bizzy starts giving you ideas about things you might like, such as restaurants and shows.
Like Foursquare, you can use your iPhone’s GPS to “check-out” at places you like, adding them to your list of locations and helping Bizzy make additional recommendations for you. There’s also an option to leave comments about the places and events you attend, and you can read the comments and experiences of other users to get a sense of what you’re getting into. If you imagine Foursquare joining up with Yelp, but with recommendations, you have an idea of what Bizzy is like.
Sitter Sorter (iPhone, iPad) $4.99
The need for a babysitter seems like it can get pretty hectic, and though I’m not to a point in my life in which I have the need of one, I can see the dilemma of trying to remember sitter schedules and rates, contacting them, and making sure you’re covered when you need someone to watch the kids. After a quick setup, Sitter Sorter removes all that hassle by allowing you to organize and aggregate all your babysitter information in one place and keep it all straight.
You start by entering in your sitters’ information into the app, including their schedules and availability, rates, and preferred contact info. You can search through the available sitters by various criteria like rate, and if you enter a date into the app, Sitter Sorter will automatically show you who’s available. Pick a sitter, and the app will even contact them about scheduling.
CollabraCam (iPhone, iPad 2) $6.99
You might have heard about the music video recently shot using nothing but the iPad 2. CollabraCam, an app that works for the new iPad as well as the iPhone, is the sort of tool you might want if you were planning an iOS music video. It allows you to film with up to four iOS devices and stream all their video back live to a another device using a local Wi-Fi network.
As you stream video back from each of the cameras in the field, you can edit and assemble clips from the various iPhones, iPod Touches or iPad 2s on the fly to create your video as it’s happening right on your own iDevice. As the director, you can also send instructions to the other devices connected to you, to give your crew real-time instructions as they’re shooting.
