Futurama Head In A Jar (iPhone, iPad) Free
Good news, everyone! Fans of “Futurama” now have the ability to create their own futuristic human heads in jars in the style of the futuristic comedy cartoon by the creator of “The Simpsons.” The app is basically a big set of menus and art from the “Futurama” universe that lets you create a head by combining various options, like hair color and type and eyes, to find one you’re happy with.
Once you’re done designing your head, you can save it as the background on your iOS device or do a few other cool things with it. Facebook and Twitter integration allow you to post your creation straight to them, and you can save the photo to your Camera Roll to do whatever you want with it. You can also create your own head museum and populate it with all kinds of heads, including those of your social networking friends.
Goshi (iPhone, iPad) Free
Goshi is a marketplace where users can buy and sell items locally by posting information and photos of items within the app. Users can then search for items through Goshi and use the app to set up a transaction to buy the item and pick it up locally. It’s like a flea market in your iPhone.
Currently, Goshi is only available to users in Chicago, but its developers intend to spread to more cities and markets in the near future. All the transactions that go through Goshi are tagged to “hubs,” or public locations where users can meet up and safely complete their transactions. The app also features Facebook and Twitter integration, allowing for the sharing of posts and transactions with friends online.
Stickman BMX (iPhone, iPad) $0.99
Simplicity is Stickman BMX’s greatest asset. The 2-D side-scroller is about riding your BMX bike and doing tricks to rack up a high score in its 60 levels. In the default mode, it has only two buttons: one for speeding up, and the other for doing tracks. And brilliantly, for most players, that’s all the game needs.
The challenge in Stickman BMX is in dodging obstacles and finding the best paths through levels to ratchet up score, so keeping things easy makes it easy to pay attention to the details in each level and try to find anything you might miss. If you want more challenge, however, the game features a manual trick mode in its options menu, which adds a lot more control to the game. High scores are tracked using Game Center leaderboards.
One Man Army (iPhone, iPad) $0.99
One Man Army is basically a tower defense title, except that you play one of the titles. Your goal in each of the game’s 36 levels is to prevent hordes of mutants from making it from one end of the level to the other, using your bunker and machine gun against them. Aiming and firing is as simple as touching on the screen where you want bullets to go.
Each mutant kill earns you money to spend on defenses, which is definitely a good thing, because the game gets challenging in a hurry and there’s no way to defeat all the mutants on your own. Placing objects like turrets adds more strategy to the game, and like in other tower defense titles, you can upgrade your towers to make them more effective. Strategic thinking is key to success, as is fast thinking and reaction time.
