Yesterday saw the release of Google+, the mobile app version of Google’s new social network that finally allows iPhone owners all the same functionality Android users have been enjoying for nearly a month. It leads today’s Fresh iPhone Apps alongside OfficeDrop, a Dropbox-like app that lets you scan documents using your iDevice’s camera and save them to the cloud. In games, puzzle game Milk and Coffee is all about manipulating physics and objects to reunite a pair of cats, and Honey Tribe will have you attempting to grab high scores with its simple controls and fast-paced gameplay.
Google+ (iPhone) Free
Google’s new Facebook-like social network, Google+, has been available for most of the month, but the iPhone app that goes with it has only just made it into the App Store. Already, it is the #1 free app available. The app seems to have been worth the wait, allowing users to plug into Google+ with all the best features that Facebook’s app offers users, including the ability to post status updates with location tags and share photos and videos quickly and easily.
Google+ also packs a few cool additional features, like Huddle, which allows users to chat with contacts they have in their Google Circles. And in addition to seeing status updates from people a user has already added to their Circles, Google+ lets you see status updates from people with public profiles in your general vicinity, using the iPhone’s GPS capabilities.
OfficeDrop (iPhone, iPad) Free
Scan documents and upload them to the cloud on the go with OfficeDrop. The app uses your iOS device’s camera to make quick and easy PDFs, which can be shared using an Office Drop account quickly and easily. You can also crop your PDFs, and documents become text searchable once they’ve been converted.
You’ll need an OfficeDrop account to use the app, but once you obtain one, you can upload documents to the cloud and access them using a number of devices – including a web browser or your iOS devices. You can also organize your documents in folders using the app, as well: you just need an Internet connection.
Milk and Coffee (iPhone, iPad) Free
Cats’ Milk and Coffee have a play to perform, apparently, but they’ve been separated for some reason – and you need to help to reunite them. In each level in Milk and Coffee, you’re tasked with placing objects in the path of Coffee, a black cat, to help him gather coins and reach Milk, the white cat. Objects include balloons to lift Coffee and tacks to make him fall back down, and objects that speed him up and slow him down.
The puzzler includes 100 levels to work through, divided into five episodes. The first is free, but you’ll need to pay for each additional one. The game also lets you share your scores on Twitter and Facebook.
Honey Tribe: Colony Collapse (iPhone, iPad) $0.99
As a member of a bee colony, you’re tasked with collecting nectar to feed baby bees in Honey Tribe. To do that, you need to fly into flowers, as well as keep your speed high enough to evade destruction at the beak of the Bee-Eater. Honey Tribe’s controls are extremely simple: Touch the screen to make your bee fly upward, let go to make him drop back down.
You get two game modes to play through in Honey Tribe – a level-based mode that lets you push through the game’s story, and an endless mode that lets you see how far you can get. Your high scores get saved and shared on leaderboards thanks to support from Game Center.
