In today’s Fresh Apps, discover another addition to the ever-increasing line of Google apps in Google Shopper. We’ve also got a couple of apps to help you get the most out of your TV experience. Rovi can help you find out more information about TV shows that are showing in your area during the next 24 hours, while Episodes provides you with everything you want to know about the series you watch most.
Google Shopper (iPhone) Free
The latest addition to Google’s complement of apps is Google Shopper, which allows you to search for products, compare prices and find local or online retailers to buy exactly what you’re looking for the price you want to pay. Like Google’s other apps, you can scan bar codes or box covers with your iPhone’s cameras to instantly gather results, or search by typing in information or speaking into the app.
Once you’ve found what you’re looking for, you’ve got a lot of options for information about the product. Google pipes in reviews and info about the product for you to read up on, and then gives you options about where to find it. You can instantly pull open online listings, or you can use your iPhone’s GPS technology to find a store near you. It’s a lot of information and a really convenient way to find what you’re shopping for and purchase it right on the spot.
Rovi What’s On TV (iPad) Free
Plugging in your zip code and the provider of your TV service is enough to get your local listings from Rovi What’s on TV, an app that provides you with all kinds of TV guide-type information on your iPad. You can see a full list of everything that’s on TV for the next 24 hours and get information on all the shows, including the actors who appear in them complete with recent photos.
Touch controls allow you to browse through listings by time, channel and show, and the app will find you programs similar to the ones you like, as well. Rovi also includes social networking functions that allow you to “check-in” to the TV shows you watch and share them with friends using Twitter.
Episodes (iPhone) $0.99
Rovi is handy if you want to know more about the celebrities appearing on the shows on your TV today, but Episodes is meant to help you find out about your favorite TV series. Searching for a particular series floods you with information about it — when it first aired and when it will air next and on what Internet-based channels.
Episodes’ offers a large amount of information on an episode-by-episode basis for each show. You can get full episode summaries and rundowns and even screen captures, helping you keep up to speed with things you might have missed or watched a long while ago. Episodes can recommend more TV you might like based on your preferences too.
