Read RSS update from your favorite websites, search for and buy tickets to upcoming concerts in your area, and get instructions on how to make a cup of coffee or how to get to someone who will make it for you — all for free. They’re today’s Fresh Apps, and you can read about them below, also for free.
FLUD Mobile (iPhone) Free
This free RSS news reader has already gotten considerable attention in its iPad form. The new FLUD for iPhone app is just as slick, readable, and visually well-designed as its larger counterpart, and just as free, which is a big plus.
FLUD can handle up to 25 news feeds, and suggests a few if you don’t have any in mind. It downloads updates when you connect to the Internet, but also saves articles so you can read them in offline mode. Another cool feature functions to influence the community by moving up articles that are more popular: if you like an article, you can click its “heart” icon, which ups its popularity and influences what other FLUD users are reading, minute-to-minute.
Live Nation (iPhone) Free
Concert-goers can tap into Live Nation’s list of upcoming shows in its new free app, with the ability to search through upcoming concerts by artist and venue to stay up on shows before they happen — and buy the tickets to attend them.
Beyond just knowing what tickets you want and snagging them while mobile, Live Nation funnels the scoop on presale deals and last-minute ticket sales, plus information like seating charts and ticket details so you know exactly what you’re getting. You can also see setlists for concerts, as well as videos and photos, and get information on past and upcoming shows.
Intelligentsia Coffee (iPhone) Free
In addition to telling you about what kind of coffee you can get at Intelligentsia coffee houses, or where to find one — which, let’s be honest, is not that big of a deal — this app goes above and beyond to make itself extra-useful, by teaching you how to make various kinds of coffee using various kinds of brewing machines.
You’ll get step-by-step instructions on how to prepare your coffee from the beginning, and the app also includes a brew timer that works even while you’re using a different app, to make sure your coffee comes out perfect every time. And if you don’t feel like making it yourself, you can always rely on Intelligentsia on your iPhone to help you find an Intelligentsia in your neighborhood.
