Start the week with an update to Team Stream, an app that lets you keep track of your favorite sports teams, their stats and the news about them. It leads today’s Fresh Apps and has just added alerts to its capabilities, helping you keep on top of the sports scene at all times. Our next app, Cheapslate, allows you to track deals in six major cities in the U.S., narrowing down sales in your area to exactly what you’re looking for. In games, the second episode of point-and-click adventure title Hector has hit the App Store with its brand of raunchy humor, and puzzle fans will find plenty to do in The Secret of Chateau de Moreau with its more than 100 puzzles and 40 story endings.
Team Stream update (iPhone, iPad) Free
A bunch of new streams have been added to sports-tracking app Team Stream. The app allows users to track their favorite teams and receive information, news and statistics about them, and more teams added to the National Football, Fantasy Football, Basketball, Baseball, College Football, Recruiting and Hockey categories.
Team Stream now also issues real-time alerts about the teams you follow, so you can be notified anytime a big trade goes through or a game wraps up. Add that to the ability to check back stats for the season and news stories about your team, and you’ll have everything you need to know to keep up on top of sports wherever you are.
Cheapslate (iPhone, iPad) Free
If you live in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Dallas or Washington D.C., you’ll want to check out Cheapslate and see if the app can start saving you money. Cheapslate scours the area around you in those cities and finds deals and sales in the categories you set, allowing you to then head out to the stores that have discounts and pick up what you need while keeping more money in your wallet.
You can sort your list of deals in as many as 16 different ways and even set price ranges for the deals you’re looking for to screen out things that are out of your price range. Cheapslate draws on multiple deal services, including LivingSocial and KGB Deals, and it allows you to share your findings with friends using Facebook and SMS messages.
Hector: Ep 2 – Senseless Acts of Justice (iPhone, iPad) $4.99
The second installment of Telltale Games’ disgusting, often hilarious and thoroughly British point-and-click adventure game, Hector: Ep 2 isn’t a game for kids, but adults will find a fairly hilarious puzzle title that’s twice as long as the first episode.
The game follows Detective Inspector Hector as he hunts down a terrorist sniper at large in the town of Clapper’s Wreake. Puzzles will take players through a butcher’s office, a gun shop/beauty salon, a beef-centric French restaurant, a church-turned-brothel and more. There’s about four hours of gameplay here, and puzzle fans who enjoy a little gross-out humor will have a great time with Hector.
The Secret of Chateau de Moreau (iPhone, iPad) $4.99
Another story-centric puzzle game, The Secret of Chateau de Moreau takes players through the story of a man whose foster father has died. Returning to the Chateau de Moreau for the first time in years, he sets about trying to find out what happened to his uncle – both to find out who killed the chateau’s count, and to clear his own name of the murder.
There’s a whole lot of gameplay on offer in The Secret of Chateau de Moreau. It includes more than 100 puzzles to solve through the course of the game, and has more than 40 endings depending on your choices. You’ll also need to gather clues and interrogate other suspects to find answers about what has happened in the chateau.
