InTheMO (iPhone, iPad) Free
Figure out what to do and where to go with InTheMO, an app that works to be your “personal concierge” by paying attention to what you like and providing you information about things you might enjoy. The app’s claim to fame is its video content — it features 3,500 videos of locations like restaurants and night life to show you what you’re getting into and help you decide what you’re in the mood to do.
InTheMO covers 57 cities at the moment with all kinds of information, divided by category. Integrate with Facebook or add friends in the app and you can see their favorite places and recommendations as well, complete with videos. And InTheMO gathers info about you as you rate the places you go so it can make informed recommendations of things you’ll like.
Maha (iPhone, iPad) $2.99
Customize your Twitter feed just the way you want it with Maha. You can set all kinds of things, including colors, themes, backgrounds and more, to give yourself exactly the Twitter experience you’ve been looking for. The app also includes all the Twitter controls you’d expect, from tweaking the refresh rate to adding geotagging to your updates.
Maha does a lot of other things right, as well. The app will automatically save drafts of updates if you let them hang in the text field for long enough, and Maha contains a robust in-app web browser for when you want to follow links from your Twitter feed. If you don’t mind paying for a Twitter client, Maha is definitely a strong candidate.
Einstein’s Pedometer (iPhone, iPad) Free
Everybody hold onto something — we’re about to talk about science. Einstein’s Theory of Relativity states that as speed increases, time slows down relative to things that are not moving quite so quickly. It’s called Time Dilation, and it has been proven with atomic clocks: for example, if you fly in a plane, time for you on the plane is actually running slightly slower than time for someone standing on Earth. Any increase in speed actually takes you ever so slightly forward in time.
Einstein’s Pedometer is an app that plays with this notion by using calculations and GPS data to track just how far into the future you’ve traveled just by traveling. It’s quite simple and displays pretty much just the elapsed time readouts after you travel, but it’s free and fun for science nerds and fans of time travel.
