Fresh apps: Zinio, Hexagram – Tower Defense, Seinfeld Quiz

As more magazine titles publish iPhone-tailored editions, the demand for a better reading experience that does not strain the eyes will increase. Released this week, the Zinio app promises to deliver a digital magazine stand to your iPhone and other digital devices.

The free application currently provides access to a dozen niche magazines (iPhone LifeCar and DriverYoga Journal) with plans to eventually publish Zinio’s 2,000 titles through the iPhone app. While pricing varies for each magazine, a Zinio subscription (which is required to use the app) is free.
Features include full portrait and landscape views, article sharing and offline reading. As Zinio is already compatible to desktops, netbooks and tablet devices, expect enhanced features with the arrival of Apple’s so-called iSlate Tablet which is scheduled to be unveiled January 27.

The latest release in the tower defense genre is Hexagram – Tower Defense. The 99-cent game, which also comes with a free lite version, places you in ancient times. As mighty wizard HEXA GRAM, you must fight off a series of evil monsters with supernatural powers. Don’t forget to pick up the blue diamonds along the way, as they are the source of your magic power.

While not as technically pronounced as George Costanza’s iToilet, the 99-cent Seinfeld Quiz will be a delight to fans of the iconic situation comedy. More than just an app about nothing, Seinfeld Quiz includes more than 500 trivia questions about the travails of Jerry, George, Kramer and Elaine. Potentially bigger than anything unveiled at CES, the world now awaits a Curb Your Enthusiasm iPhone application.
