Fans of the band 311 (three eleven) now have an uplifting new app to keep up with the rock and rollers from Omaha. The free iPhone app developed by Sony Entertainment includes an impressive video media gallery, news and tour dates, and live Twitter feeds from lead singer Nick Hexum and the band itself.
4. BirdsEye
At $19.99, BirdsEye is not for everybody. But if you are an avid bird watcher, this new iPhone app is a worthy download at almost any price. The app notifies you of certain birds nearby and provides regular updates of where any of the 847 North American species have been seen recently. The app includes interactive maps of 25,000 bird watching spots and more than four hours of professionally produced bird calls.
5. KPIX CBS 5
Two months before March Madness, 13 owned-and-operated CBS television stations unveiled new iPhone apps. Each app includes a mix of local and national video, weather reports and Twitter feeds. KPIX is the Bay Area CBS network.
