Flitter! iPhone app is a good start for RSS beginners

There’s quite a few RSS readers in the iTunes App Store, so choosing one can be a challenge. Flitter!’s simple interface, along with some bonus features, make it a great choice for RSS newcomers to get started.

Flitter! ($1.99) can’t sync with an RSS reader, so users will have to input every site and feed address that they want to read. I would imagine this is a frustrating, time-consuming and tedious task for users with a plethora of regularly-accessed sites. However, for first-time RSS users, this isn’t really an issue.

Plus, finding feeds is a snap with Flitter!’s “Feed-O-Matic.” Tap the magnifying glass at the bottom of the screen and enter in a URL. If that site has an available RSS feed it will appear, and you can then save it to your homepage. The number of new items in each feed is displayed alongside each one. I do wish that the app didn’t come preloaded with feeds, especially since they aren’t exactly main destinations and deleting them is just another step in getting the app up and running to your specifications.

Flitter!’s developers were smart to include an option to integrate your Twitter accounts. This allows you to tweet articles with only a tap. Flitter! also takes advantage of the iPhone screen’s size, with a full-screen viewing option when you’re browsing the Web in-app.
